our story
We had long wanted to develop a restaurant concept centered around making people feel special. We had traveled the world sampling the most amazing restaurants but wanted to bring home something that touched the edges of fine dining yet remained accessible.
Somewhere you can be yourself, but provides VIP service to all regardless if you are famous, were famous, almost famous, never famous or “will be” famous. Our goal is to capture that elusive balance between sophistication and simplicity, elegance and ease, whimsicality and wonder — and if you know us well, a touch of mischievous. A place where we would go if one of our good friends’ owned a fancy restaurant where we could (almost) do what we want. A place where we take what we do seriously, but we don’t take ourselves seriously. A place where an elevated, level of hospitality is available for all our guests to feel fabulous and where the finer things are covered.
When a beautiful historic building in downtown Calgary became available, we knew we had found the perfect home. Originally constructed in 1893, the building was originally occupied by the Calgary Herald, the oldest running newspaper in the city. We signed our lease right in the middle of a worldwide pandemic. And while restauranteurs have never been known for being the smartest bunch, we figured that the time was just right to celebrate getting together again and feeling good.
So please contact us and we will create a hospitality experience to remember. For us, it’s all in the details. Some may even say it is in the FinePrint.
head chef: francis MARTINEZ
Our head chef Francis Martinez executes a menu designed by Xavier Lacaze, Canada Top Chef participant and former executive Chef at La Fourchette (England) to deliver contemporary dishes with a soft french influence. From caviar to the finest local beef, from small delicious snacks to robust courses, we aim to create a special experience for every guest.
FRESH INGREDIENTS
The attention to detail we seek starts with our local farmers and producers and transcends to our preparation and cooking styles. From sourcing natural and organic ingredients to selecting special kindling for our wood burning oven, we have a love for food and hospitality that is best when shared with our friends and guests.
DINING & hOSPITALITY OPTIONS
Whether its the front wine lounge, drinks/snacks the central bar, intimate dinner in the central dining room, our 4 seat kitchen roost or private dining, we offer several areas to match your mood. Whatever the OCCASION and no matter how large the party, we recommend getting things started downstairs where the champagne starts at the push of a button.
